The Migraine Association of Ireland [MAI] will hold a training seminar for health professionals to mark Migraine Action Week 2010.
A panel of migraine experts will present on the day, including Prof Orla Hardiman (Neurologist), Dr Eddie O’Sullivan (GP) and Nurse Esther Tomkins (Specialist Migraine Nurse). “This is the first migraine/headache training event of its kind to take place in Ireland,” says MAI CEO, Patrick Little, “As international best practice suggests, the event will focus on a multi-disciplinary approach to headache management. “Many migraine sufferers need support from a wide-range of health professionals to cope with this debilitating condition – from the pharmacist to the GP and onto the neurologist. Even physiotherapists, occupational therapists and psychologists play a role,” he continued. The event takes place at the Berkeley Court Hotel, Ballsbridge, Dublin on Saturday, September 11th from 10.30am to 3.30pm. There is no cost to attend but if you are interested in taking part please call 01 8941280 or email: info@migraine.ie to book your place. Migraine affects over 500,000 people in Ireland and is ranked by the World Health Organisation as the 12th leading cause of disability worldwide amongst women and 19th overall. |
