3 Day PIPJ Workshop - Level II Hand Therapy

8.30am - 5.30pm | Thursday 21 Feb 2019 to Saturday 23 Feb 2019

This course will be of interest to OTs and Physiotherapists working in orthopaedics, plastics and rheumatology, with an emphasis on the management of all PIPJ conditions.

Diagnostic skills, knowledge and practical application of therapy for the management of PIPJ conditions are essential in both Occupational therapy (OT) and Physiotherapy.  

Aims of the Training:  

  • Demonstrate the range of methods of assessing the PIPJ  
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the theory and practical aspects of potential treatments for specific problems related to PIPJ injuries / acquired conditions 
  • Demonstrate an evidence based understanding of the impact on the PIPJ of common hand conditions / injuries 
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the development / mechanics of instabilities and deformities around the PIPJ 
  • To successfully complete the exam and written assignment  

Workshop content: Management of conditions affecting the proximal interphalangeal joint (PIPJ) 

  • Overview of conditions of PIPJ 
  • Possible causation 
  • Potential pathologies 
  • Physical risk factors 
  • Treatments of conditions of PIPJ  

Course Prerequisites

Attained BAHT level one and have 6 months experience implementing level 1 knowledge
or
Experience working in hand therapy for 2 years or longer

Please note: Successful completion of this course provides 2 points towards BAHT Level 2 accreditation. This course includes an exam.

  • This course is Part Subsidised by the National HSCP Office.
  • The Standard cost of attending a BAHT Level 2 course is approximately €600 -This has been reduced to €270 through funding from the HSCP office.

Booking is via the form below. Please note payment is taken at the time of booking. Payments are refunded to those applicants who are not offered a place on the workshop. As this is a HSE-funded workshop, prioirty must be given to HSE employees. Private sector OTs are also very welcome to apply.

Cancellation Policy: In the event that you cancel your place 5 or more working days before the workshop a 50% refund will be provided. No refund will be provided for cancellations after this time unless the place can be re-allocated to the waiting list.

 

Weather warnings: In the event of severe weather, AOTI is guided by Met Eireann status warnings, and aims to notify all participants by email and text at least 24 hours in advance if the event is to be postponed.

Safety is our first priority in circumstances where travel may be inadvisable. Please check emails and texts the day before and the day of the event.

When a workshop is postponed, a new date will be set as soon as possible and all confirmed participants will be offered a place. If you are not able to attend the new date, your booking fee will be refunded.
