AOTI would like to welcome all new graduates to this informative webinar on the 22nd of November 2023 from 12:30-14:00. This event is being offered free of charge to any interested Occupational Therapists and AOTI membership is not required to attend.
The session is aimed at those about to embark on their career as an Occupational Therapist or those who are new in their job. It will provide information on what to expect when starting out on your professional career. Valuable advice and perspectives will be given from both an Occupational Therapy Manager and a new graduate Occupational Therapist. In addition, essential information on continuing professional development (CPD) will be given by AOTI's Director of Professional Development. There will be an opportuntiy for Q&A also.
This webinar aims to provide new grads with encouragement and confidence to start off their careers in the best way possible. Odhrán Allen, CEO of AOTI, will moderate this session and participate in the Q&A with the speakers.
The speakers at this webinar to be confirmed but we will have a manager and a relatively new graduate to speak as well as our CPD manager, Orla Foster.
Occupational Therapy Manager
- To discuss what to expect in the first 6months to a year in a new job
- Tips on how to feel confident and grow in a new role
- Advice on transitioning from student to working professional
- Information on seeking a job, registering with agencies and sending out CVs.
New Graduate Occupational Therapist
- We will have a new grad to provide an overview of the experience as a new graduate OT
Orla Foster, Director of Professional Development, AOTI
- Orla will provide an overview of what CPD is and what the requirements for Occupational Therapists are in line with the code of ethics and CORU
- She will also give an overview of the AOTI CPD resources available including the CPD portfolio and advice on best ways to manage CPD for new graduates
