The Occupational Therapists in Homelessness Advisory Group (OTHAG) are delighted to announce an exciting online CPD event that will focus on the role and value of occupational therapy in the expanding field of substance use.  We will hear from a stimulating variety of speakers with a wide range of different experience and knowledge in the field.

• 10.00 Welcome & Introduction
• 10.10 Robbie Maguire- Peer Support Specialist with Lived Experience of Homelessness, Substance Use, and being a “Service User”
• 10.30 Jon Fisher, Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist, Aneurin Bevan Specialist Drug and Alcohol Service, Wales
• 11.15 Deirdre Ryan Senior OT, St Patrick’s Mental Health Services 
• 11.25 Olwyn Kennedy, Senior OT HSE Midwest Drug and Alcohol Service 
• 11.35 Panel discussion, including all speakers  
• 12.00 Closing comments

Delivery method: This CPD event will be delivered via a live videolink on Zoom.  (2 hours)

Date: 24/10/24 from 10am-12pm

After this CPD event, occupational therapists should be able to:

Have a good understanding of the value and importance of occupation in the growing field of substance use, it’s impact on occupational functioning, as well as some practical advice on how to support clients who are in active addiction, or recovery
Have more of an understanding of the role of the occupational therapist in substance use services
