The Paediatric Advisory Group are excited to kick off our 2024 webinar series with February's webinar   - “An overview of Sensory Processing, Polyvagal Theory and Regulation’  presented by Regina Donnelly and Emir Crowley as part of our innovative practice evidence online seminar series for 2024.

Sensory Processing, Polyvagal Theory, and Regulation are key concepts in Occupational Therapy, particularly in the context of promoting well-being and functional outcomes for individuals. This hour long webinar aims to support participants to develop:

  • Understanding of how sensory processing and Polyvagal Theory interweave
  • Understanding of the Autonomic Nervous System  and how the body and brain are connected
  • What regulation and co regulation mean for occupational therapy practice

This month we are delighted to offer a spotlight series event entitled " Foundations of Excellence: Essential Training for Early Career Occupational Therapists in Children's Serviceswhich will also be provided by Regina and Emir. In this spotlight session we will discuss clinical reasoning and why it is fundamental to OT practice. Clinical reasoning is the application of theory to practice and is crucial in  Occupational Therapy.

Regina and Emir each have over 25 years’ experience training and working as Children’s Occupational Therapists. They are clinic directors of Hand in Hand Children’s OT service, specialising in sensory integration, sensory attachment and trauma sensitive therapy. They are Advanced Clinicians in Sensory Integration, also have extensive training in Sensory Attachment Intervention and have spent a number of years training in the application of Poly Vagal Theory for OT.
