Launch of Position Paper on Evidence-Based Practice in Occupational Therapy
New AOTI member resource published
We are delighted to launch our latest publication: Position Paper on Evidence-Based Practice in Occupational Therapy. This position paper was developed by the AOTI EBP & Research Committee.
Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) underpins and shapes how Occupational Therapy services are delivered. This position paper establishes the significance and importance of EBP for AOTI members and provides an overview of roles and responsibilities to ensure the highest possible standard of services for the individuals, communities and populations who access Occupational Therapy.
When EBP is clearly defined, articulated and embedded into the culture of Occupational Therapy research and practice, it facilitates the provision of the highest quality services. It is essential that Occupational Therapy practitioners engage in and integrate EBP across all aspects of their work. In this way, the Occupational Therapy profession can confidently provide appropriate clinical approaches and interventions.
The position paper also outlines a number of implications for Occupational Therapists, Managers, Employers, Government Agencies and AOTI.
We would like to congratulate and thank the members of the EBP & Research Committee who developed this valuable new resource for AOTI members. The document authors and stakeholders were Áine Coe, Dr Brid Dunne, Patrick Hynes, Dr Orla Brady, Ronan Hegarty, Ele Quinn, Sharon Kelly, Megan Walsh, Emma Butler, Aoife Ried, Dereena Minehane, Dr Clare Murphy.
