Member Update on Highly Successful Conference 2024

Friday 27th September 2024

The AOTI Annual Conference 2024 concluded this afternoon and was a truly wonderful 2-day gathering of the Occupational Therapy community. The feedback from delegates, sponsors, exhibitors, presenters and guests has been overwhelmingly positive. Sincere thanks to everyone who helped make it the great success it was. In particular, I would like to thank:

  • The Conference Committee – Méabh Bonham Corcoran (Chairperson), Sharon McMorrow, Megan Walls, Mairéad Mac Crossain, Liz Smith, Aoife Ryan, Sara Kift, Shalelah Karkon and Simone Ryan – and the student volunteers Yanlin, Qiuxia, Ciara and Martyna.
  • Sophie Pozzey, our Event Planning and Conference Administrator, Brian Condon, Conference Lead on the Management Team, and the AOTI staff – Veronica McKenna, Laura Horan and Siobhán Hanley
  • The Sponsors of Conference – Seating Matters, Accora, Homecare Medical, Trulife and Glencar – and the exhibitors
  • The Conference delegates, presenters and session moderators as well as the inspiring keynote speakers – Dr Jackie Bosch and Helen Rochford-Brennan
  • The Mount Wolseley Hotel staff and the suppliers and contractors

The collective efforts and participation of everyone made Conference 2024 a truly memorable one and we look forward to an equally enjoyable, informative and energising conference in 2025. Please be sure you share your feedback with us if you attended the Conference. If you were inspired by the event and would like to get involved in the Conference Committee, they would love if you emailed them at [email protected].

The AOTI AGM took place yesterday as part of the Conference programme with members attending in person and remotely via Zoom. Patricia Regan presented the Chairperson’s report and Máire O’Leary and I presented the Finance report. The audited accounts for 2023 were approved and Richard Ensor & Co were approved as AOTI auditors for 2024. The co-option of Róisín McCormack to the Board of Directors was also ratified at the AGM. When the formal proceedings of the AGM concluded, I presented the CEO report which you can read here.

We were delighted to launch the new AOTI Strategy 2024-2029 at the Conference. The strategy sets out 5 strategic priorities for AOTI for the next 5 years. By supporting our members, amplifying our voice, engaging our members, empowering the profession and collaborating with stakeholders, we can effectively address identified areas for development and further strengthen our role in serving, promoting and representing Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants in the Republic of Ireland. You can view the strategy here

Thank you again to everyone for a memorable Conference.
