Would you like to join the AOTI Management Team?

AOTI is recruiting volunteers to serve on the Management Team of the Association. This is a fantastic career development opportunity for Occupational Therapists. The term of members of the Management Team is normally for a period of 3 years with the option of a second term.

The Management Team is keen to emphasise that the vacant positions are open to all Occupational Therapy grades and practice areas. An important requirement is availability to attend monthly meetings (majority online) and a willingness to bring energy, commitment and enthusiasm to the work of the Management Team. Successful applicants will get the chance to learn and develop their management skills including people, project and resource management.

 

AOTI Management Team Roles & Responsibilities

The Management Team is collectively responsible for the day-to-day running of AOTI, with the support of AOTI staff. The Management Team is led by the Chief Executive Officer and reports to the Board of Directors. Core responsibilities include:

  • Aligning AOTI operations with AOTI Strategy
  • Making decisions in relation to all areas of AOTI operations
  • Balanced decision making to ensure optimal and fair outcomes for AOTI and AOTI members
  • Establishing and reviewing AOTI operational policies and procedures
  • Responding to high level correspondence received by AOTI
  • Overseeing the work of AOTI Committees, Advisory Groups and AOTI representatives and supporting these key organisational structures
  • Overseeing operations in areas such as membership, the website, AOTI documents, conference and projects
  • Reporting to the Board of Directors on AOTI operations and seeking guidance from the CEO and the Board of Directors on matters impacting on AOTI policy, strategy and governance
  • Attendance at meetings once a month usually scheduled on Wednesdays (3-7pm).

 

Qualifications

Applicants must possess the following qualities: 

  • Be a member of AOTI or be eligible for membership of AOTI
  • Ability to devote sufficient time and energy to Management Team duties including attendance at monthly meetings, taking a lead on an operational area, responding to emails and follow-up on actions between meetings. A large amount of the Management Team’s work takes places outside of the arranged meeting times. Seeking the support of your line manager to be on the Management Team is recommended.
  • Good problem-solving and interpersonal skills and ability to participate in group decision-making
  • Demonstrate integrity, high ethical standards and respect of privacy and confidentiality 
  • Knowledge of the activities of the Association of Occupational Therapists of Ireland would be an advantage but is not a necessity.

  • Successful applicants will be provided with induction and ongoing support from current Management Team members, the CEO and AOTI staff.

Applicants will be assessed by the Management Team considering the need for Management Team diversity and skill-mix. Brief online interviews will form part of the evaluation and selection process.

 

Recruitment Process

  • Please advise in your application if you have specific areas of interest e.g. submissions, documents, communications or policy formulation or if you have particular skills within or outside of Occupational Therapy that may benefit the Management Team.
  • The Management Team will review applications in line with the roles and responsibilities of a Management Team member and the qualifications required.
  • The Management Team will then shortlist applicants. The skill and grade mix of current Management Team members will be a factor taken into consideration when reviewing applications and shortlisting.
  • Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a brief interview with the CEO and a Management Team Member.
