The Housing Agency - Research mapping Lived Experience roles

AOTI have been asked to circulate information below to our members.

----------------------------------------

Association of Occupational Therapists of Ireland (AOTI) has been contacted by a researcher at the Housing Agency who is conducting research on paid Lived Experience roles across Ireland. Lived Experience roles are those that require the employee to have first-hand experience of the field in which they are working. An example of a Lived Experience role in a disability service would be a paid Board Member or a Peer Support Worker who has a disability themselves. Similarly, a Family Support Worker in a disability service would have experience supporting a family member with a disability and has navigated relevant community resources. People in these roles are ‘experts by experience’. Common job titles for this type of role include Peer Support Worker, Peer Health Navigator, and Family Support Worker.

If your organisation employs anyone in a similar paid capacity, please contact Carissa at [email protected] to ensure your work is included in their national map or to learn more about Lived Experience roles.

Thank you for your time and your help.
