Hoist Training for OTs (one day course) available in our AdaptAbility Training Centre Navan on Wednesday 26th of June 2024 - it’s a one day course.
Closing date for application can be 29th of May.
The course covers:
Relevant health and safety legislation, Risk Assessments, Moving & Handling Plans
Active V Passive hoists
Criteria for each hoist and sling
Environmental considerations
The course teaches OTs
How to use Turner/Stand transfer aid
How to use Sit to Stand hoist
How to recognise when a Turner/Sit to Stand hoist is no longer safe
How to use full hoist
Fitting/Removing a sling in bed and chair
How to hoist to position in tilt chairs
Safe use of slings: universal/transfer, toileting/hygiene, hammock
How to use an overhead hoist
8 places available per course in line with best practice manual handling guidelines.
Course facilitated by Patricia Farrelly who has worked as an OT for over 20 years; community and residential settings, private and public sector. Also awarded QQI Level 6 People Handling Instruction Certificate.
