The acute hospital advisory group (AHAG), is a newly established group of occupational therapists, who work in and have a common practice interest in the care of patients in acute hospitals. The AHAG committee consists of practicing occupational therapists who are based in various roles in acute hospitals around Ireland. Our aim is to encourage, promote, facilitate and support the advancement of Occupational Therapy practice within the area of acute care. Our Primary focus is within all specialities within surgical, acute medicine, and emergency medicine. We will work closely with other AOTI Advisory groups relevant to the care of patients in the acute hospital.

The Acute hospital advisory group aims to:

• Advocate for occupational therapists working within the acute hospital setting on national issues which affect the profession, clients and therapists
• Provide a platform for members to share information regarding current research, policies, events and courses relevant to the care of patients in the acute hospital
• Highlight to AOTI possible opportunities for development within the profession
• Promote evidence-based practice in this area for all Occupational Therapists, thereby ensuring the service user’s experience is of the highest quality
• Identify the learning needs of our group members and provide CPD opportunities through educational events and study days to meet these needs
• Facilitate peer support, sharing expertise and an opportunity to network with occupational therapists working in acute care nationally
