AOTI CPD team are running a 2025 webinar series - "Let’s talk about…”
These free monthly webinars will be available to attend exclusively for AOTI members. We will be drawing on the great experience and expertise of AOTI members along with some additional special guests to cover a variety of clinical talking points and current topics relevant to Occupational Therapy.
January: Let's Talk About...Time Use and Wellbeing
Kicking off the our first webinar of the series to get us talking about ‘time use and wellbeing’ we had award winning UCC lecturer, researcher and Occupational Therapist Dr Eithne Hunt PhD, MSc., PgDipStat, BSC.(Hons.)OT, MAOTI. In this webinar Dr Hunt takes us on a journey of looking at time use in the context of today's busy world, and explores concepts relevant on both a personal and professional level such as from time poverty, time confetti, the 1% challenge and much more.
February: Let’s Talk About… Amplifying Our Voice: AOTI advocacy on behalf of members
AOTI CEO Odhrán Allen joined this webinar to speak with us about AOTI advocacy on behalf of AOTI members. This webinar is a great opportunity to become informed about AOTI advocacy on behalf of the profession. A key priority in AOTI Strategy 2024-2029 is to strengthen advocacy to amplify the voice of the profession and increase visibility of the transformative potential of occupational participation and Occupational Therapy. Odhrán speaks about current and future advocacy within AOTI on behalf of our members, and answers questions that members have about this topic.
March: Let's Talk About...The CORU CPD Audit
In preparation for CORU CPD audits in April AOTI Director of Professional Development Siobhan Hanley was joined by members of CORU to discuss CPD, CORU CPD requirements and were introduced to the new CORU online portal being used if selected for audit. Thought the audit period may have now passed, this webinar will still be of interest to those wanting to learn more about CPD and CORU CPD requirements.
April: Let's Talk About...Innovation in OT
For our April webinar we heard from a panel of speakers who will discussed innovative practice ideas and how to get them off the ground! We were joined by:
- Michelle O'Donnell: Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist/Certified Hand Therapist & 2024 Bright Spark Award Winner
- Siobhán Power: National HSCP Innovation Fellow at the HSE Spark Innovation Programme
- Sarah Mc Nally: Occupational Therapist Manager in Charge III, St Vincent's University Hospital
Each presenter gives an overview of their perspective on innovation, followed by questions submitted by AOTI members being put to the panel for discussion.
June: Let's Talk About...The Value of Video in Clinical Practice
We were joined by Amanda Kelly for this webinar who shared with the audience how she uses video as part of her occupational therapy practice, particularly in paediatric context. Amanda explored with the audience the role of video can play in clinical practice, highlighting its value and wide-ranging implications. Drawing on personal experience, she also incorporated feedback and perspectives from service users, looking at the pros and cons for it’s use in practice.
September: Let's Talk About...Sensory Practices
This webinar provided participants with a snapshot of view how sensory practices are used across different ares of practice. We had 4 OT's share their experiences:
- Joanne McHugh from CAYPAG sharing from a CDNT perspective
- Eilish Duggan from IDAG sharing from an intellectual disability setting perspective
- Siobhán Hanley sharing from a mental health perspective
- Maureen Ryan sharing an innovative case study from a private practice perspective
December: Let's Talk About...Cognitive Rehabilitation
For our final webinar of the 2025 Let's Talk About... series, we were joined by OT Sinead Purcell who spoke with us about Cognitive Rehabilitation.
Sinead covered a range of areas including key principles of cognitive rehabilitation, evidence-based treatment approaches, the stages of cognitive rehabilitation, the importance of activity analysis and what's happening in the research field. Sinead also used case studies to demonstrate the application of theory into practice.
