Presenter: Dr Judy Ranka, Director & Principal Occupational Therapist, Occupational Performance Network; Honorary Academic, University of Sydney
Overview:
The Perceive, Recall, Plan & Perform (PRPP) System of Task Analysis, developed by Assoc. Prof. Christine Chapparo and Dr. Judy Ranka, is a cognitive approach within the Occupational Performance Model (Australia) that focuses on how people use cognition to achieve occupational performance goals. Applicable across the lifespan and independent of diagnosis or severity, the PRPP System integrates assessment and intervention to support clients’ occupational engagement.
This introductory session provides a concise overview of the PRPP Assessment (PRPP-A), highlighting its person-centred, strengths-based, and evidence-informed approach. Participants will gain insight into how task performance mastery and cognitive strategy application are evaluated, and how findings can inform occupational therapy intervention.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
Understand the foundations and purpose of the PRPP System, including its cognitive, neuroscientific, and occupational therapy basis.
Identify key elements of task performance mastery and the cognitive strategies of perceive, recall, plan, and perform used in the PRPP Assessment.
Appreciate how PRPP findings can guide goal setting and intervention planning to enhance occupational performance.
This session is ideal for occupational therapists seeking a structured, cognitive-based framework to assess and support clients in achieving meaningful occupational outcomes.
