AOTI would like to welcome all new graduates to an informative webinar on 25th November 2025 from 1-2pm. This event is being offered free of charge to any interested Occupational Therapists and AOTI membership is not required to attend.
The session is aimed at those about to embark on their career as an Occupational Therapist or who are in the early stages of this journey. It will provide information on what to expect when starting out in your professional career along with practical tips tailored to the new graduate stage. Valuable advice and perspectives will be given from both an Occupational Therapy Manager and a new graduate Occupational Therapist. In addition, important information on continuing professional development (CPD) will be given by AOTI's Director of Professional Development. There will also be an opportunity for Q&A.
This webinar aims to provide new graduates with encouragement and confidence to start off their careers in the best way possible. Odhrán Allen, CEO of AOTI, will moderate this session and participate in the Q&A along with the speakers.
The speakers at this webinar will include:
Roisin Cronin, New Graduate Occupational Therapist, will discuss:
- Provide an overview of the experience as a new graduate OT
- Tips on transitioning from student to working professional
- What challenges might you face and how to overcome them
Sarah Carter, Occupational Therapist Manager In Charge III, will discuss:
- What to expect in the first 6 months to a year in a new job
- Tips on how to feel confident and grow in a new role
- Information on seeking a job, the types of employers of OTs in Ireland and how these setting employ you
Siobhán Hanley, AOTI Director of Professional Development, will discuss:
- Provide an overview of what CPD is and what the requirements for Occupational Therapists are in line with CORU standards
- Provide advice on best ways to manage CPD for new graduates
- Give an overview of AOTI CPD resources including the AOTI CPD portfolio, regularly run CPD events and the AOTI e-learning centre
