Information on the Community of Practice
This CoP aims to build on the capacity of the school workforce, involving knowledge translation over time, to address practice gaps; to be change leaders in implementing inclusive practice supporting participation; that maximise student’s school success and health (mental and physical).
The CoP aims to identify Ireland’s current strengths, challenges, and needs while also sharing success stories in schools and plans for moving forward.
This community of practice has evolved from a visit in Oct 2023 by Susan Bazyk, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA Professor Emerita, Occupational Therapy, Cleveland State University, Founding Director - Every Moment Counts: Promoting Mental Health Throughout the Day. The visit brought together academic and practice-based therapists with the aim of advancing interprofessional school-based practice with a focus on tiered services, inclusion, and mental health. Information was shared on Every Moment Counts’ embedded strategies and programs emphasising participation in occupations and interactions throughout the day focusing on promotion and prevention. www.everymomentcounts.org
