COTEC will host a Webinar on Monday 26th October 2026 at 13:00 CET entitled "Illuminating the Dark Side of Occupations".
Occupations are often associated with health, wellbeing, identity and meaningful participation. However, not all occupations are positive or beneficial. Some may involve harm, exclusion, marginalisation or behaviours that negatively impact individuals and communities.
Join us for an insightful webinar exploring the dark side of occupations and challenging traditional perspectives on occupational engagement.
Meet the speakers:
Dr Claire Hart – Associate Professor in Occupational Therapy at Northumbria University, England. Her interests include the occupational opportunities of marginalised populations, particularly refugees, and the impact of attitudinal barriers on occupational choice.
Sam Baker – Lecturer in Occupational Therapy at the University of Liverpool, England. His clinical background spans forensic services, mental health and learning disabilities. His research focuses on the dark side of occupation, interpersonal violence and forensic occupational therapy practice.
