SeatTech: Seating Assessment and Solutions Course Level 1

• This workshop is supported by HSCP Office funding. Only OT's in HSE funded roles (including S38/S39) are eligible to attend this particular course 
• These places are highly sought after. It is essential that you can attend all three days of this course, and that you have approval from your manager to attend when signing up 

About the course

The assessment and provision of suitable seating and wheelchair devices to service users can be a challenging activity for all those involved. Correctly prescribed equipment can enhance a person’s daily life, their health and their posture. This 3 day, in-person training course will be of interest to OTs working in the field of seating and mobility. 

Who should attend Level One Training?

This foundation training module will provide participants with an overview of general solutions to meet more common non-complex seating and mobility challenges.

Course Presenters

This course is delivered by the SeatTech team. Each trainer has many years experience working in the field of seating and mobility.

Course Aims

For participants to gain: 

• An understanding of the basic principles of seating and related mobility
• An understanding of the importance of 24 hour postural management as a fundamental approach to maintaining health and function, not least seating and mobility
• Increased confidence in their ability to manage the seating and mobility assessment and provision process
• An understanding of the methods, tools and language used in the seating and mobility assessment and provision process
• Understanding of general solutions to meet the more common seating and mobility challenges
