AOTI EBP & Research Webinar Series Session 2: Ethics across the research process & applying for ethical approval for research studies

Dr Sarah Quinn is Head of the Discipline of Occupational Therapy and has been with Trinity since 2002. Her current research interests are in occupational justice, feminism & mothering; community participation, civic engagement & social inclusion. Her PhD used feminist and occupational justice theories to explore the narratives of mothers of children with autism. Sarah's teaching is primarily around the concept of occupation. As part of this, she coordinates a community-engaged learning module involving partnerships with organisations representing those experiencing disability or social disadvantage. Sarah is co-leading on an award-winning, multi-service collaboration, 'Supported Volunteering: Working Together, Learning Together', which creates opportunities for supported volunteering between students and people with experience of homelessness and/or mental health issues. She partnered on a three-year, Erasmus+ funded, inter-disciplinary project, 'PREP-IP', developing resources for health and social care professionals to work with refugees.

Sarah has taught a range of courses, including research methods and evidence-based practice. While in her current role, she worked in a voluntary capacity in a College-based occupational therapy service supporting students with autism to participate academically and socially in college life. Sarah is an active member of the Association of Occupational Therapists of Ireland and has chaired their Research Committee; she has presented widely; taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate level; examined, and supervised to completion, both taught and research masters and PhD. Sarah was a member of the Health Science Faculty Research Ethics committee for ten years.

Sarah will be sharing her knowledge and expertise on "Ethics" on 29/10/2026 from 1-2 p.m.
