Student Placement Dates for Academic Year 2026–2027
Can your service facilitate student placements?
Planning is now underway across all Occupational Therapy programmes in Ireland for practice education placements during the 2026–2027 academic year. The AOTI Practice Education Forum would like to thank the many Occupational Therapists, managers and services that continue to support student placements each year. We recognise the significant pressures many services are currently facing and appreciate the commitment required to provide high quality learning experiences for students.
As student numbers continue to grow, the need for practice education placements is increasing. Practice education is central to preparing the next generation of Occupational Therapists and, as outlined in AOTI's Position Paper, is a shared professional responsibility that supports the continued growth and sustainability of the profession in Ireland.
If your service may be in a position to offer a placement during the coming academic year, we encourage you to consider doing so. Every placement makes a valuable contribution to the education of future colleagues and to ensuring the profession can continue to meet the needs of individuals and communities across Ireland. AOTI also recognises the resource constraints facing services and continues to advocate for the supports needed to sustain practice education into the future.
