The National End of Life Survey - final report and results

The first National End of Life Survey was carried out in Ireland in 2023, asking bereaved people about end-of-life care provided to relatives or friends in the last months of life.

The survey was conducted by the National Care Experience Programme – a partnership between the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA), the Health Service Executive (HSE) and the Department of Health - with support from the Irish Hospice Foundation.

The final report will be published in mid-April at yourexperience.ie. If you would like to receive a notification when the results are published, please sign up here.

The findings are presented at a national, aggregate level, with a breakdown by setting (hospital, hospice, nursing home and home care). Individual services are not reported on.

We are holding online information sessions to share the findings. These sessions are tailored to specific settings but are open for all to attend.
