Announcing New AOTI Chairperson
We are delighted to announce that Genevieve O’Halloran is the new Chairperson of AOTI. Genevieve became a Director of AOTI in 2023 bringing her experience as a member of the AOTI Management Team and the previous AOTI Council. She has also served as a member of the CORU Occupational Therapists Registration Board and CORU Council.
Speaking about her appointment, Genevieve said, “I am delighted to accept the nomination for the role of Chairperson of AOTI and I would like to thank the Board of Directors for providing me with this opportunity. I am a long-standing member of AOTI and I believe that it is a great organisation that offers huge support and opportunities to Occupational Therapists in Ireland across the breadth of clinical practice.
AOTI is an organisation of its members, for its members and working together the Board of Directors, the Management Team, the Staff and all of the volunteers have created an organisation that we can be proud of.
I believe that each of us is an ambassador for our profession and I am honoured to be asked to support and engage with our membership in continuing to grow our voice, empower the profession and enhance the services we offer to our service users now and into the future”.
Genevieve has represented Occupational Therapy and AOTI at a national level including working extensively with the National Recruitment Service and National HR. She holds qualifications in both Lean Healthcare Management and Human Resource Management.
She graduated from Queen Margaret College in Edinburgh in 1994 with a BSc Occupational Therapy and worked in Glasgow prior to returning to Ireland to take up a position with the Midland Health Board in St Vincent’s Care Centre, Athlone. Moving to the Western Health Board to Community Care, she became the first Occupational Therapist Manager in Roscommon in 2002, a post she held until 2023. During this time the service grew from a single-handed post to over 20 staff members and expanded into the areas of paediatrics and older person’s services. She is currently a Business Development Manager in Home Support, National Older Persons Services.
In both her personal and professional life, Genevieve believes in the value of teamwork, talking, walking, kindness and tea.
We congratulate Genevieve and wish her every success in the role of Chairperson.
