Join In Your Way: Free resource linking interoception, regulation and participation

Join In Your Way is a free resource developed by Déarbhla O'Reilly Malone, Senior Occupational Therapist, with support from the AOTI Eva Duggan Award 2025.

It was created to offer a simple shared language around body clues, regulation and participation in everyday occupations. The framework uses five stages: Feel it → Know it → Choose it → Do it → Join in.

The focus is on helping children notice their body clues, think about what those clues might mean in context, and consider what might help them take part in what they want or need to do. Support may come from the child, another person, the environment or the activity itself.

Déarbhla presented the project at the AOTI Annual Conference 2026. The first animation and accompanying Resource Pack are now available online, with further Body Clues Adventures animations to follow.
