Plan Ahead - Practice Education placement dates for Academic Year 2022-23

Contact the universities now to schedule placements for the coming year

One of the objectives in the AOTI Operational Plan 2022 is to address practice education issues of importance to the OT profession. To progress this, the Management Team established the AOTI Practice Education Forum, which has already met three times this year.

All four universities continue to experience challenges identifying placements for students in a timely manner, particularly mental health and paediatrics placement. At its most recent meeting, the members of the Practice Education Forum agreed it would be useful to collate the dates of all practice education placements and circulate this to AOTI members, to assist you with forward planning for the coming academic year.

The Management Team encourages members to review the table below of placement dates for the coming academic year and to consider offering an additional placement where possible or to consider taking a student for the first time. The Practice Education Teams at TCD, NUIG, UL and UCC provide a range of supports and resources for new and experienced practice educators to enable you and the student to have a positive experience of practice education. And of course, practice education is a valuable CPD opportunity for occupational therapists. Practice education is vitally important to the future growth and development of our profession and we encourage members to do what they can to support student placements in the coming academic year.
