After the success of last year's study day, the Vocational Advisory Group are delighted to announce our 2026 in-person study day will be taking place 8.30am to 3pm on Friday 4th Dec in the National Rehabiliation Hospital, Dublin.
Bookings are now open and will close on 27th November 2026.
Cost: 25 euro (AOTI members) - (75 euro for non-AOTI members)
Theme: Introduction to Vocational Assessment & Intervention in Occupational Therapy
Overall Aim: To enhance clinicians’ knowledge, and confidence in delivering effective vocational assessment and rehabilitation (VR) interventions to support people with long-term health conditions to remain in, return to, or transition within work.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of the study day, participants will be able to:
- Describe the role and scope of vocational assessment within OT led vocational rehabilitation.
- Apply current research and models to clinical VR practice.
- Demonstrate an understanding of relevant legislation, benefits and financial considerations that impact work participation.
- Identify key indicators of work readiness and optimal timing for return-to-work interventions.
- Use effective communication strategies, including direct feedback and motivational interviewing, to support clients through complex vocational decisions.
- Design and implement work hardening interventions appropriate to individual clinical presentations.
- Signpost clients to appropriate long-term employment, employability and community resources.
